“I love my Meals on Wheels, I would never survive without them. Before I got sick I was the best cook, I made everything from scratch. I can’t cook now, I can’t lift my arms up very far, but I can still tell a good meal from a bad one and Meals on Wheels are the good ones. And they are at rates I can afford.

“When I first became sick I tried to survive on meals from restaurants but with the delivery charges, it was just too much. I also ate a lot of cereal, too much cereal really. It’s important to have at least one hot meal every day and with Meals On Wheels that’s what I get.

“The staff and the volunteers are so friendly. As you get older, if you don’t have much family around, you can become quite isolated. They come to my door every day. They are so polite and well-mannered and caring. They even bring me Christmas cards.

“I think it’s important to understand that hot healthy meals aren’t something that we want, they’re something that we need.”
