CBRM Pallet Village on track to welcome first residents in August

Construction is underway on the site and Pallet shelters are expected to arrive in late July

The 35 single-unit Pallet shelters for the CBRM Pallet Village are expected to arrive on-site the week of July 22, 2024. The Pallet shelters can each be assembled in under an hour.

It is estimated that it will take at least two to four weeks for power connections to each unit to be completed.

In the meantime, work is underway to convert one of the two former New Dawn Welding College buildings into an accessible community building for the Pallet Village. This building will include staff office spaces, washrooms and showers (including accessible washrooms and showers), laundry facilities, a shared kitchen and living room, and programming/clinical spaces (for physician, nursing, counselling, etc. meetings).

We are in Unama’ki, one of the seven traditional and unceded ancestral territories of the people of Mi’kma’ki. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship which the Mi’kmaq first signed with the British Crown in 1726.
