This series features seven paintings inspired by the traditional Seven Teachings of Indigenous Peoples. Gould is a self-taught visual artist from We’koqma’q in Unama’ki. Her work is deeply personal, drawing on her thoughts, feelings, and Mi’kmaw cultural teachings.
Speaking about the series, Gould explains: “These paintings are the Seven Teachings. The Seven Teachings are about life and being. You can’t have one teaching without another. These teachings are life-teachings that are passed down from generations, and generations to come. Life lessons in one glance.”
