Kiwanis Golden K expands partnership with Meals on Wheels by adopting a route

Commitment to volunteering is in addition to $1000 donation to the program

A local service organization is helping to ensure low-income seniors in our community have access to affordable, nutritious meals.

Back in March, Cape Breton Kiwanis Golden K made a generous financial contribution to New Dawn Meals on Wheels through funds raised via their new Raffle Box initiative. At the time of their donation, the group also committed to joining our volunteer delivery team by ‘adopting’ a Meals on Wheels delivery route.

On May 26, Golden K members Sandra Kelly and Deb Murray made the inaugural meal delivery.

Delivering with Meals on Wheels is just one of the many ways Golden K serves our community, which also includes greeting and directing people at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and serving the breakfast program at Mountainview Elementary.

The commitment to volunteer service AND financial donation are the most impactful ways to support Meals on Wheels. Their team’s dedication to meal delivery contributes to shorter wait list, and their financial contributions support affordability initiatives that lower the cost of meals for low-income seniors.
