Droplets is located in the south stairwell extension of Eltuek Arts Centre. At this time, the work is only accessible in person by the stairs. Visitors who are unable to access the stairwell can view high-resolution images and interpretive text through the digital version of the Public Art Walking Tour.
“All know that the drop merges into the ocean, but few know that the ocean merges into the drop.” — Kabir
Droplets are two large, custom mirror pieces installed in the South Stairwell extension at Eltuek, catching the viewer mid-ascent. Each is embedded with imagery generated by a simulation of thousands of reflective droplets. As you move past them, your reflection is broken apart into scattered fragments, shifting with each step upward.
The mirrors change throughout the day, as the path of the sun lightens and darkens their surface. Droplets appear and recede, revealing and obscuring the image within. Encountered in motion — whether ascending or descending — the experience evokes the sensation of surfacing through deep waters: glimmering, immersive, and momentarily disorienting.
