IDEAS: Powered by Passion (2010–2017) was a monthly series featuring a speaker from a community organization, a musical guest, and a keynote. Collectively, the stories given expression on the IDEAS stage over its seven years contributed to the unearthing of a shared, creative, and courageous Cape Breton narrative. IDEAS Powered by Passion events are free and open to the public.
Spaces like these are invaluable to the processes of community conversation, development, and visioning. They begin to allow us to see that leaders, agents of community change, and inspired lives are all around us every day. The vibrant stories shared at IDEAS — and in the hours, days, and weeks afterwards — are stories of individuals, organizations, and communities forging their own paths, solving entrenched community problems, encountering unprecedented success, and inspiring the rest of us to do the same.

We are in Unama’ki, one of the seven traditional and unceded ancestral territories of the people of Mi’kma’ki. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship which the Mi’kmaq first signed with the British Crown in 1726.
